One of the partners of the Va3SCoDi project is the volunteers association ‘Amici della Natura Rosignano ODV’, which manages the natural history museum of Rosignano Marittimo: MuSNa. To kick off the collaboration within the project, the first meeting took place during the morning of May 20th at MuSNa in Rosignano Marittimo, among Valentina Domenici, Gaetano Angelici, and Luca Rocca from the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, and some members of the association and its board members, including Alessandro Lenzi (president) and Adriana Gnudi (board member). The meeting was an opportunity to visit the educational laboratory featuring tools from the ‘wooden mathematics’ project, a unique collection of objects built by association members to facilitate the learning of mathematical concepts, as well as to visit some of the museum’s rooms that display instruments related to chemistry and physics, including reconstructions of historical objects such as Volta’s battery and the Baghdad battery. During this visit, the foundations were laid for joint science outreach activities using historical scientific instruments, which will begin in the upcoming autumn.
